Letter from the Director – Back to School Music lessons

Ring the Bell.  School is in Session!!

Letter from the Director

Dear SJAA Families,

As we kick off a new school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead and share some thoughts on how music can enrich our lives during this busy season.

Back-to-school time is often filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. It’s a time of fresh starts and new routines, and it’s the perfect moment to integrate music into your child’s life. At the SJAA, we believe that music education is not just an extracurricular activity—it’s a powerful tool for growth and development. Engaging in music lessons has been shown to enhance cognitive abilities, improve focus, and boost self-confidence. As students transition back to school, music can offer a creative outlet and a sense of accomplishment that complements their academic pursuits.

To make the most of this time of year, consider establishing a structured routine that includes music practice. Consistent practice can help students develop discipline and time management skills, which are beneficial both in and out of the classroom. Setting aside a specific time each day for music lessons and practice can help create a balanced schedule that accommodates both schoolwork and artistic growth. Encourage your child to set small, achievable goals and celebrate their progress along the way. This positive reinforcement can make their musical journey enjoyable and rewarding.

For those of you who have been contemplating starting a new instrument or exploring vocal training, now is a fantastic time to jump in. Music is a wonderful way to channel energy and enthusiasm, and our caring instructors are eager to help students discover their passion. We still have a few limited spots available, so if you have friends or family interested in joining our vibrant community, encourage them to reach out. It’s a great opportunity to get matched with a favorite teacher and become part of the largest private music school in NW Missouri.

Juggling back-to-school activities can be a challenge for any parent. To help manage the busy schedule, consider integrating music lessons as a rewarding and enriching part of your family’s routine. It can be a source of joy and relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle. And remember, the skills and discipline gained through music can positively impact other areas of life, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

We are on your team so don’t hesitate to reach out for productive strategies and resources to get the most out of your music lessons, practice time and general sanity!  We are here to help.

As we ramp up this school year, we wish you and your family a successful and fulfilling journey ahead. May it be filled with growth, learning, and, of course, the joy of making music.

Thank you for sharing your family with ours.

Here’s to a best year yet!
