The 365 Day Practice Challenge
The Goal here is to make your practice a part of your everyday routine. You will only need to practice the days you sleep or the days you eat! The amount of time is not as important as the act of just being with your instrument for a little while everyday. (Those who dedicate themselves to 20 minutes per day will have over 121 hours of practice invested.) You’ll be a confident and advancing musician!

Thank you for coming to play at the SJAA and for encouraging the advancing musicians in your life.
TeacherZone!
We are offering all SJAA students and families some great new benefits with TeacherZone, an online, music lesson management platform.
The teachers have already been using it to take attendance and for in-house communication.
Students, guardians and teachers can each have their own personalized account for transparent communication for all concerned. Finally, a system to help you keep track of what students are learning.
It’s going to be a great tool that incorporates the technology everyone is already using online, with their tablets and phones. We can encourage students the other six days a week by creating online review lessons, assign practice, easily share musical content and more!
Parents can log in and see exactly what’s going on in lessons and at practice time. TZ will also help with scheduling automated payments and communication.
Our students matter most. And we want to provide all the best possible tools for them to succeed.
You will still be able to call, text or email with your teacher if that is your preferred method of communication.
We’ll start rolling out the benefits and features slowly in the days after Christmas.
You should be receiving an email from TZ shortly (or maybe some of you already have and weren’t sure what it was, it is NOT SPAM) with your usernames and passwords.
https://teacherzone.com/Member/Login
The software does a ton of stuff and we are still learning it too. If you have any questions or problems, just let us know and we can put you on the right track.
There is also an APP for students.
It’s very cool and exciting stuff!
2019 Lesson Policy
We’ll have updated lesson policies for everyone in the new year. Just a few basic changes and a reminder for the current policies.
We’ll try to get an email out with them too.
It’s been a great year in the new location and truly grateful for everyone that is growing with us.
We want to eliminate any confusion and keep everyone, students and teachers on the same page.
And this is it!
The SJAA got our retail licenses. While we won’t be a full retail store, we will be able to offer some accessories (strings, tuners, etc) at a discount and be able to handle your book orders or keep a few things in stock!

This email is a little late as a “welcome”. We are coming up on our 1st anniversary in the new location for the SJAA. Thank you very much for joining us and coming to work on your music here.

The Write Notes – December 2017
Newsletter from the SJAA
Welcome to the “Write Notes”, the monthly newsletter from the St. Joseph Arts Academy!
2017 was inaugural year for the SJAA. The transition from our private music studio to the academy has been dedicated and deliberate. We didn’t exactly know how it would work out but we had a vision about what might be possible.
Over 12 months, we set up websites and social media. We taught of 1400 music lessons (mostly guitar and ukulele). Many wonderful new students and families came on board.
Our students had over 10 recital, concert and adjudication opportunities including performances at Trails West and the Coleman Hawkins Blues Festival.
It’s been a great year for music education in our community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve, teach and share the gift of music with you and your family. We are blessed.
News –

We’ve got a great new spot in the Beck Road Center near the corner of Beck and 36th Streets.

Student of the Month –
Alex P – We want to congratulate Alex on his dedication and accomplishments. As a guitar student with our studio, he is working very hard on his music and is playing his classical guitar beautifully. Alex is very accomplished for his young age setting the record for 6 recital performances in 2017 playing classical, jazz and blues. He is also a strong and talented swimmer!
As “Student of the Month”, Alex will receive an iTunes gift card from the SJAA!
Congratulations on all your hard work, Alex. We are super proud to have you as a guitar student at SJAA.
Big thanks to Alex and his family for recommending their friends to the St. Joseph Arts Academy.
Daytime Lessons Available –
Having trouble finding time for music lessons in the evening. We have lots of busy professionals, retirees and home school students who prefer to take lessons during the regular business day. “Lunch Hour” lesson times are available with openings almost everyday between 11am and 2pm.
Hour Lessons –
Many of our busy, adult professionals and most dedicated younger students opt for a one hour session. More time and one-on-one coaching with your teacher is a wonderful opportunity to help you reach your musical goals more quickly. If you have the time or interest in an hour session, talk to your teacher and we will work with you to help you get it scheduled.
Guitar in your Home! –
We’ve recently started our “in-home” music program for guitar. Many people prefer or need to take a lesson in their homes due to child care, business or even health restraints. We are here to serve the entire community of music learners. If you are interested in or need music lessons in your own home, drop us note. We’ll make arrangements to come to you!
