The Write Notes – December 2020

Dear Students & SJAA Families,Hey everybody, it’s Jason Riley, director of St. Joseph Arts Academy with our final newsletter and updates for the year. We appreciate your feedback that you’re enjoying these messages. We’re going to keep doing these to let you know what’s going on at the school, and the latest and greatest.

One of the things we’re very excited about is everybody’s seeing the vaccines are starting to go out.  I realize there’s a long road ahead of us, but I just wanted to stress the positive. That’s my job as director is to stress the positive, look for the light, look for the future and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re very excited and encouraged about that news-very happy that’s in motion.

We’ve pledged as a team, as a school and as a family to keep each other safe. To say 6 feet apart, to wear our masks, to use hand sanitizer, to wash hands, constant cleaning and disinfecting work spaces. We’ve pledged to stay safe throughout this and not get slack – we’re going to finish strong.

I’d like to give a big welcome to all of our new students. If it’s your 1st time with us, welcome. So excited that new students have been signing up at SJAA.  We’ve got students from ages toddler to retirees and all in between.

We are so excited and hopeful about the return of live music in 2021.

I want to end by giving 3 BIG THANK YOU’S. Students, number 1, thank you.  You’re the ones that stood by us. So thank you, thank you students for taking lessons with us in person and online. We were hybrid before hybrid was cool, and offered Skype and Facetime. We’ve done it for years and now we’ve got Zoom and GoogleDuo. We’re going to offer it after, so it’s always your choice whether you want to come in person or online. We’re excited to see everyone back more and more in person. Just thank you students for being with us. You are the heroes of 2020 and we greatly appreciate you.

I want to thank all of our teachers. They’ve been working so hard to do virtual recitals, virtual lessons, in person lessons, they’ve made it work. They’ve done an A plus job. So teachers thank you, thank you for all you’ve done and onto better things in 2021.

And of course, a huge thank you to the parents, grandparents, extended family and friends who support and encourage our advancing musicians. For working tirelessly to get everybody where they need to be with their lesson and practice reminders,  Zoom log ins, virtual recitals, and of course, managing all in person activities. Thank you for all the dedication you’ve shown us this year – could not have done it without you.

So God bless you, Merry Christmas and here’s to a great 2021 and making music with you at the SJAA.

Celebrations!

2020 – What a Year!?  We’ve almost made it.  In a year when everything has been cancelled, friends and families at the SJAA stayed strong.  We opened our large classroom and 3 new studios.  New signage and our very own mural.

We went totally online for 2 1/2 Months during the only lock down our generation has ever seen.

We kept working towards our goals with 2 “Music Moves Us Together” Virtual recitals, our first Songwriting Festival, a very successful Summertime Practice Challenge, coloring contests, performed In-person for the Silver & Gold Banquet, “Mall-0-Ween” & Mall-a-thon!

We started our first (very small) group classes in Guitar, Ukulele, Free intros, Early Childhood & ART!!!

We welcomed some new, great teachers to our team and some amazing new families and students.

We kept working, growing and sharing our passion, creativity and music.

All together, We are doing something special at the SJAA.

Our October “Student of the Month” is…

Grace Mosiman

We are so lucky to have Grace and her family with us at the SJAA.

Grace excelled in our very first “Super Art” Class!  She really liked the abstract stuff which she said is “action art”.   Grace enjoys dancing and cooking but says her favorite food is chocolate.
She loves art and we love that about you, Grace!

We’ll celebrate Grace with an Amazon gift card for her!

Thank you, Grace for referring your friends and family to the Academy.
